Proteus Flow Switch Repair

bullet

Verify water flow rate (GPM/lpm) meets manufacturer's minimum specification

bullet

Make sure flow sensor is plugged in.

bullet

Turn the water on. Verify the wheel is spinning and there are no foreign objects obstructing the water flow.

bullet

The laser should not have any back pressure on the drain line, this will prevent proper cooling of the laser and the flow sensor may no function.

bullet

Measure the voltage across flow wheels terminals on the back of the sensor, this should be a minimum of 70 mv AC with water running through the laser

.

bullet

Turn the water off and blow air through the water lines.

bullet

Remove the six screws that retain the front cover of the flow wheel. Remove the wheel and clean the wheel housing, the wheel shaft and the wheel . Remove any rust or deposits from the magnets.

bullet

Re-assemble the flow switch and confirm there are no leaks in the assembly. Do not over tighten the plastic parts.

bullet

Re test. If the above procedure fails the flow sensor should be replaced.

KEEP THE ORIGINAL WHEEL, IT IS SPECIFIC FOR YOUR MODEL LASER. WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE NEW FLOW SENSOR EXCHANGE THE WHEEL WITH THE ONE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY IN THE LASER SYSTEM.

The above procedure will determine if the flow switch is faulty. Further, if the flow switch is intermittent this would indicate a bad sensor coil. Most older flow sensors must be replaced in its entirety. When replacing a flow sensor, we recommend using the brass housing series. It is a bit more expensive,  but it is not prone to cracking and the sensor coil is replaceable.
